Kancheepuram varsity signs pact with BITS for student exchange
Date:27-07-2009
SCSVMV University (Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyala) in Kancheepuram has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with BITS Pilani for student exchange and co-operation in several areas including management studies and engineering.
By this agreement SCSVMV would in turn help BITS Pilani with Sanskrit studies. This would also allow transfer of credit from one university to another.
In another student-friendly imitative, the university had decided to allow students to seek courses from other faculties.
For instance, MBA students can take up studies on environment or Ayurveda or any other soft core courses and the credits for these would be transferred to them.
The university now had plans to start several centres including one for studies on Adi Sankara’s and Sri Aurobindo’s thoughts, study on energy studies, a centre for Women’s studies, rural development programmes and study of Indian Diaspora in South and South East Asia.
