GUV Asks V-C’s to report on Steps to curb Ragging

  • Concerned over the growing incidence of ragging in educational institutions.

  • TN Governor Surjit singh Barnala has ordered all vice-chancellors in the state to send fortnightly reports to him” on the preventive measures and deterrent steps” taken by them to eradicate the menace.Governor’s letter, dated, July 8, follows one sent by President asking him to galvanize” the society towards wiping out this unseemly blot from our educational landscape.

  • There is also a need to examine if there are gaps in the regulatory structure so as to build a credible architecture of legal deterrence.

  • Governor, the chancellor for most universities in the state, asked vice-chancellors “to take appropriate immediate action to curb the ragging menace” under their control.

  • All affiliated colleges should be covered in the drive, the order said.
