Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal informed the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday that the government would sign joint ventures with foreign universities and the draft bill was being sent by the ministry for Cabinet approval.
Saying that there was nothing wrong if foreign universities operate in the country, he said, “India deserves the best but India should also build the best.
The government has also stated that deemed universities have been allowed to remove the word “Deemed” from their name and identify themselves as universities, news agencies reported.
The move comes as a blessing for students obtaining degrees from such universities as the stampe of a “deemed: university often created doubts about the quality of education in the minds of potential employers.
