Libraries Control Decentralised

Date:07-08-2009

  • Civil Service aspirants across the State will soon have easier access to books they may need to prepare for their examinations.

  • Students can give a list of books they require to officers at the libraries in their respective districts.

  • The Directorate of Public Libraries will ensure they are available at the earliest.

  • The Directorate has now authorized nearly 200 libraries in all districts to purchase the books students need and update the collection.

  • Till now, if students preparing for the Civil Services needed additional books for reference they had to request library officials in their districts, who would write to the Director in Chennai.

  • Once the request was processed and cleared, the officials in the district would proceed with the purchase.

  • The process would take nearly a month. Apart from this the Directorate would also independently upgrade the IAS sections in all its libraries.
