Sensing a new trend in employment opportunities, managements of private engineering colleges across Tamil Nadu have added a larger number of seats in civil and mechanical engineering courses this year, virtually doubling the intake.
Several colleges have introduced civil and mechanical courses for the first time; others have expanded their existing tally.
As a result, the number of seats available in civil engineering under the government quota has increased by more than 100%.
