Answer any FIVE Questions
1. A fixed point is 75mm from a fixed straight line. Draw the locus of a point P
moving such a way that its distance from the fixed straight line is
(a) twice its distance from the fixed point
(b) equal to its distance from the fixed point. Name the curves.
2.A circle of 40mm diameter rolls an a straight line without slipping . In the initial
position the diameter PQ of the circle is parallel to the line on which it rolls. Draw
the locus of the points P and Q for one complete revolution of the circle.
3.(a) A point A is 2.5 cm above the H.P. and 3 cm infront of the V.P. Draw its
Projections.
(b) A point A is 2 cm below the H.P. and 4 cm behind the V.P. Draw its Projec-
tions.
(c) Two points A and B are in the H.P. The point A is 30mm in front of the V.P.,
while B is behind the V.P. The distance between their projectors is 75mm
and the line joining their top views makes an angle of 450 with xy. Find the
distance of the point B form the V.P.
4. A line PQ, 100mm long, is inclined at 450 to the H.P. and at 300 to the V.P. Its
end P is in the second quadrant and Q is in the fourth quadrant. A point R on
PQ, 40mm from P is in both the planes. Draw the projections of PQ.
5. (a) A square plane ABCD of 30mm, is parallel to H.P. and 20mm away from it.
Draw the projections of the plane, when two of its sides are
i. Parallel to V.P.
ii. Inclined at 300 to V.P.
(b) A rectangular plane of size 60 × 30mm, has its shorter side on H.P. and inclined
at 300 to V.P. Draw the projections of the plane, if its surface is inclined at
450 to H.P.
6. Draw the projections of a pentagonal prism, base 25mm side and axis 50mm long,
resting on one of its rectangular faces on the H.P., with the axis inclined at 450 to
the V.P.
7.(a) Draw the isometric view of a square prism, with side of base 40mm and length
of axis 70mm, when its axis is i. vertical and
ii. horizontal.
(b) Figure 7b shows the front view of a sphere, resting centrally on the top of a
square block. Draw the isometric projection of the arrangement all dimensions
are in mm.
8. Draw the following views of the block shown in figure 8. All dimensions are in mm.
- Front View.
- Top view
- Both side views.
